Workers on the Virgin Trains East Coast line will stage a 24-hour strike on October 3 in a row over jobs and conditions, the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers said.
The strike follows three 24-hour strikes in August over cuts, work conditions and safety. The RMT Union said those strikes involved 1,800 members over Virgin Trains trying to "bulldoze" through changes.
The Union has also called a number of strikes this year on the Southern Rail network over the role of conductors on the service. The disruption led a group of angry passengers to set up the Association of British Commuters campaign group, which has raised over £10,000 through crowdfunding.
