An Alabama high school student was left badly injured because of his social media posts about Black Lives Matter, it is alleged.

Brian Ogle was attacked after a homecoming football game. Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson said witnesses had claimed it was over his post, although police have not released a motive.

The chief said one or more black teenagers were involved in the assault, according to WBRC-TV.

Authorities found Ogle on the ground bleeding from this head, and was taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center and then airlifted to hospital.

His mother claimed he had previously received threatening messages and passed on the details to the principal of Sylacauga High School. However the school allegedly they said there was nothing they could do.

Ogle's mother described the attack as a hate crime and was quoted by the Washington Post as saying the attack "most certainly is a race issue."
