Officers have arrested three males on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 24-year-old Alex Vanderpuye in Hackney.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a stabbing at Christie Road, Hackney on Thursday December 7 at around 4.45pm.

The victim was treated for a stab wound but died at the scene at 5.20pm.

A post-mortem examination took place at Poplar Mortuary at 2pm on Friday December 8 and gave the cause of death as a stab wound.

On Monday December 11 the victim was formally identified as Vanderpuye, from Hackney.

On Tuesday December 12, officers arrested three males on suspicion of murder. The three remain in custody at London police stations.

The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and continue to appeal for information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the vicinity of Christie Road at the junction with Cassland Road at around 4.45pm on Thursday December 7.

Detective chief inspector Jamie Piscopo, leading the investigation, said: "My officers will be at the scene of the murder on Thursday, 14 December from 3.30pm to 6.30pm and will be available to speak with anyone who believes they may have seen something. We will also be distributing leaflets in the area that will include contact details for our incident room.

"Hackney is a busy and vibrant borough and this incident took place at a time where lots of people would have been around. No matter how insignificant you think it may be, please make the call."
