Andy Serkis has spoken more of the experience in directing his new film Breathe.
After numerous high-profile roles like Gollum in the Lord of the Rings universe and Ulysses Klaue in the Marvel cinematic universe, Breathe is one of the first films Serkis has directed.
The film tells the story of Robin Cavendish, a young man who battles through paraylsis caused by polio to become an advocate for the disabled.
"It's been a process of becoming a director over the last decade or so, I've been creeping towards it," Serkis said.
"I love both acting and directing, but this has been an incredibly special experience, directing this particular story.
"It's a truthfully emotional film, it's authentic, it's real. All the characters you root for."
