Edwina Currie claims TV presenter Ant McPartlin should have had a driver "with his kind of money", and that he should have been "responsible" towards the people he works with.
McPartlin has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, after he was involved in a collision on Sunday (March 18). He has now been released under investigation and is now taking time away from his work "for the foreseeable future," according to his publicist.
Former Conservative MP and I'm A Celebrity contestant Edwina Currie told Mike Graham: "Somebody with his kind of money should have a driver. It’s as simple as that.
"You have to be responsible and if you’re a big star you have an even bigger responsibility, because you've got a responsibility to all the people in your show. You’ve got a responsibility to the people you work with.
"You have to set a slightly higher standard for yourself than ordinary people have to."
She also believes "if you’re with somebody who’s been drinking [and is about to drive], you hold your hand out and you say give me the keys."
Currie thinks Ant and Dec have had success on many shows "because they have been clean entertainers, absolutely clean.
"You never hear them swear, you never hear of any scandal associated with them, they’ve been married for years, all that kind of thing. They are proper family entertainers."
