“Houston, we have a problem” Is the Oscar-winning film quote that people are most likely to use in everyday conversation, new data has revealed.
A poll of 2,000 British adults revealed 35 per cent have used Tom Hanks’ line from 1995 Academy Award winner Apollo 13 in everyday discourse.
The study, commissioned by Sky Cinema, also found that people use a movie quote up to three times a week in their day-to-day life, although 15 per cent admit they’ve used quotes from films they haven’t actually watched.
Casablanca has been revealed as the most quoted film, with three of the top thirty film lines coming from the 1942 noir classic.
Eighteen per cent of respondents revealed they had also used a movie quote on a date - although a quarter of these admitted it was not received well.

The line most commonly used on dates is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic Terminator line “I’ll be back” - presumably used as daters pop to the toilet.
The top five most commonly used Oscar-winning film quotes are "Houston, we have a problem" Apollo 13 (1995); "There's no place like home" The Wizard of Oz (1939), "Run Forrest, run" Forrest Gump (1994), "May the Force be with you" Star Wars (1977) and "Hasta la vista, baby" Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991).
Sky Cinema group director Ian Lewis said: "One sign of a truly great classic is winning an Oscar, but another is how much it enters people’s lives and we often see that phrases from great films of generations gone are still used by Brits in everyday life situations, regardless of age, proving just how influential these award-winning movies can be.''
