Julia Hartley-Brewer has told the Green Party's co-leader Caroline Lucas that her demand for extensive detail on the Government's Brexit strategy is simply impossible.
The Government yesterday (Thursday) published the bill on triggering Article 50 - which contains two clauses and is 137 words long - to be rushed through Parliament.
Lucas has tabled an amendment to the bill, which she published on her Twitter feed this morning.
She told Julia Hartley-Brewer: “A bill of just 137 words is a pretty insulting way of treating Parliament," and believes Theresa May has no mandate for "the kind of extreme Brexit she is pursuing."
Lucas also suggested Brexit could do serious damage to both the economy and the environment, and said it was "legitimate and indeed responsible" to find out more about the type of Brexit we are going to negotiate.
This prompted Julia to challenge her, saying the clarity she wants from the Government will simply not be possible until the bill become an Act.
