Ivanka Trump was the victim of jeers whilst taking part in a women's panel in Germany, after claiming that her father is a "tremendous champion of supporting families."
Many members of the audience hissed and booed at Donald Trump's daughter when she made the comment, according to The Hill.
The appearance was particularly controversial given that Ivanka's father has made several inflammatory comments about women in recent months, including boasting about grabbing women by the genitals and suggesting he'd date Ivanka if he wasn't her dad.
However Ivanka insisted that her father had a positive, progressive view of women, telling the audience that he "encouraged me and enabled me to thrive."
She accepted that there had been criticism of her father and his presidency, but said she has been tasked by the administration with fighting for "incremental positive change."
As well as taking part in talks about entrepreneurship and empowerment, Ivanka will also be having dinner with Chancellor Angela Merkel during her time in Germany.
Many have suggested that assignments such as these demonstrate that Ivanka is the 'real First Lady' in the White House, with Donald Trump's wife Melania taking a more withdrawn role.
