A Birmingham man has been charged with the murder of his wife, who died after being stabbed at the family home.
Parvez Akthar, aged 46, has been remanded in custody accused of killing mother-of-five Shaeen Akthar, 49, at their home in Wright Road, Washwood Heath.
Emergency services were called just before 4pm on Sunday October 15.
Akhtar, who police say is unemployed, was arrested a short time later and has been remanded in custody to appear before city magistrates on October 17.
Det Insp Paul Joyce, from the Homicide Team, said: “A lot of people arrived at the address after the incident and we are eager to speak to any of those people who we have not already spoken to.”
A statement from the family said: “Our amazing, caring, beloved mother passed away on the 15th October 2017.
“All we ask in this difficult time is for your prayers, and for you to respect our privacy.
“In this tribute we would like to say to our mother: ‘We hope you are in a better place, looking down on us and nodding your head in approval. We want to tell you and the world, you will always be in our hearts’.
“Ameen. In this difficult time, we ask if you please refrain from circulating any unauthorised content [images, false stories].
"Inna lillahi wa inna illahi rajioon" [To him we belong, to him we shall return].
