Four men have been jailed for life for murdering a man with an axe and machete during a street fight.
Father-of-four Sajed Choudry was attacked near his home in Blackburn in November last year amid a feud between two families.
Mr Justice Dove sentenced Sadaqat Ali, his brother Rafaqat Ali, their father-in-law Fazal Ilahi, and another man, Syed Ali Akbar to life in prison.
A boy who cannot be named for legal reasons has been convicted of manslaughter and will be sentenced next month.
The judge said he is “astonished and horrified” to see a family “descend into callous violence and murder”.
“By your actions you have left a void in this family which will never be filled,” he said.
The court heard the Ali family had been in a feud with Mr Choudry’s family since May 2018 and on the evening of the attack Sadaqat Ali had armed himself with a machete and confronted Mr Choudry’s son Ahsan.
Ali then went to his father-in-law’s home where he gathered the others. They armed themselves and went to attack the Choudrys.
Sajed Choudry was killed and his son suffered an “appalling injury” when he tried to escape.
Blackburn Chief Inspector Pauline Stables said: “The defendants armed themselves with weapons and went out with the intention of causing serious harm that evening.”
“Violence of any nature will not be tolerated in our communities and today’s result demonstrates that we will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to justice."
