A body has been discovered on the M1 motorway which appears to have been run over several times, police have said.
It was found in the early hours of the morning and a section of the road in Northamptonshire has been closed.
Police were first alerted to the incident after several calls just after 2am, closing the road around an hour later.
Sergeant Tony Hopkins told the BBC the investigation was continuing, as the body appears to have been "travelled over by several vehicles."
He said: "We need to find out where the person came from and why they were on the M1."
The body is believed to be male and the road is expected to be closed until this afternoon.
It is not yet known whether the man was walking along the road or if he came from a vehicle.
