The explosion at a nursery in China yesterday (June 14) was caused by a bomb created by a 22-year-old man with a autonomic nervous system disorder, local authorities say.

Eight people were killed in the blast in Fengxian, Shanghai, according to Le Figaro. The man who set the bomb off also died, and reports suggest more than 60 people sustained injuries in the incident.

The attack took place at around 4:50pm, as parents were picking up their children from Chuangxin Kindergarten.

Photos posted on social media of the incident showed both children and adults lying on the ground.

Many appeared to be bleeding and some were unconscious.

Local authorities said that they found explosive material in the perpetrator’s flat, and a DNA analysis has been conducted at the property.
