Nadine Dorries has claimed that Boris Johnson is the "only person" who can save the Conservative Party.
Appearing on the breakfast show, the Tory MP said she would be backing the former foreign secretary in any leadership contest, as support for her party continues to plummet in the polls.
"I absolutely want Boris Johnson," she told talkRADIO's Julia Hartley-Brewer.
"I think he is the only person that can save the Conservative Party and in doing so, save us from a Corbyn government."
She continued: "The country I think wants Boris Johnson as well."
Turning her attention to the current Conservative leader Theresa May, Ms Dorries insisted she was being "controlled" by people behind the scenes.
"What you're seeing here now is a small group of men, Mark Sidwell, Gavin Barwell, Olly Robbins, who are almost controlling the Prime Minister," she said.
"I don't believe the Prime Minister wants to be in this indignified position. I think she wants to do the right thing."
Her comments follow an announcement by Mrs May yesterday, in which she said she will allow MPs to vote on holding a second EU referendum if they support her Withdrawal Agreement Bill.
The move has been met with scepticism and criticism from some Tory MPs.
Ms Dorries added: "I don't think she's in charge."
"I think she has always been a totally committed public servant, and anyone that looks at her work history and record knows that, but in Number 10, over this issue, something else has been at play."
