Boris Johnson's sister Rachel has joined the Liberal Democrats, her husband appears to have confirmed.
Ivo Dawnay tweeted: "It's been 25 years since my wife Rachel Johnson agreed on anything - but then Brexit. I joined the Lib Dems 6 weeks ago. Why haven't you?"
He posted the tweet only hours after reports claimed Johnson had joined the party due to her views on Brexit as, unlike her brother, she is a Remainer, according to The Telegraph.
She also retweeted the message, which many have interpreted as an endorsement. The last party Johnson was a member of was the Conservatives.
Last year she said: "In general elections I have voted nothing but Tory, and since I have two brothers standing as MPs for the party, it’s sort of a matter of family duty."
Many believe this move will irritate the foreign secretary, who was instrumental in the Brexit campaign.
The Lib Dems have not confirmed whether Johnson is a member of their party, due to data protection restrictions.
Reports claim she previously spoke to Nick Clegg about standing as an MP for the party, however rules state she must have been a member for at least a year before standing.
