A think-tank director campaigning for a formal judicial review on Britain's membership of the European Economic Area (EEA) says the appeal could actually speed up Brexit.
Peter Wilding, director of British Influence, is demanding a review of the Government's claim that Britain's EEA membership will automatically lapse when it leaves the EU.
Wilding told Julia Hartley-Brewer that the Government's claim is inaccurate, adding that there are several benefits to remaining a member of the EEA.
He said that it was surprising that a Conservative Government would "bin Margret Thatcher’s greatest legacy without even seeking clarification."
It has been suggested that an EEA review could clog up the Brexit process, but Wilding insisted "Brexit could be quicker rather than slower through this."
