Brexiteer John Redwood has told talkRADIO he simply doesn't believe a report suggesting that Brexit will cost the UK £105 billion.
Redwood was responding to a report by the Rand Corporation, a US thinktank, which also suggested Brexit will cost each member of the population £1,585.
Redwood, the Conservative MP for Wokingham, told Sam Delaney that the doom-mongers have made these sorts of forecasts before - and got them wrong/
"We had all sorts of gloomy forecasts before the referendum," Redwood said, "and they included short-term forecasts telling us it would plunge us into recession. I’m pleased to say we can now say categorically they were wrong.
"From the same kind of stable a forecast, now comes this longer term forecast, I just don’t believe it."
Redwood also said EU nationals shouldn't be concerned, as he and other British people have always made them feel welcome.
"I always said [EU citizens] needn’t worry," Redwood said, "because it was quite obvious we were very happy for them to carry on living here."
