A train station in Brussels was evacuated this afternoon after a bomb threat was made to the police.

Terrified commuters were shepherded out of Gare de Bruxelles-Nord (North Brussels Station) as officers investigated the threat. Police and army were reportedly called to the scene.

Belgium remains on high alert following bombings at Zaventem Airport and on an underground train in March, killing 33 people.

One Twitter user posted an image apparently showing 'military' personnel surrounding the station.
