Celtic fan in hospital after falling from top tier at Borussia Park stadium

A Celtic fan fell from the top tier of the stands at Borussia Park stadium on Tuesday, during his team's Champions League match with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 24 year-old man was badly injured after the fall and is currently in hospital.

He had tried to climb on to the upper section of the Celtic support in the stadium, according to German regional newspaper Westdeutsche Zeitung.

He was taken to hospital in an ambulance, however the extent of his injuries is not yet known.

Reports have claimed no one else was involved in the incident at the match, which finished 1-1.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said: "We have been in contact with local authorities in Dusseldorf, Germany after a British national was taken to hospital.

"We are ready to provide consular assistance if requested."
