Footballer Ched Evans bears no ill-will towards the woman he was convicted of raping, according to his father-in-law.
Karl Massey has given his first-ever broadcast interview to talkRADIO this morning, explaining the turmoil he felt surrounding Evans' rape case and outlining the reasons why he stuck by the former Manchester City and Sheffield United player.
Evans served two-and-a-half years in prison for rape after having sex with an unnamed woman in a hotel room while both were intoxicated. However Massey insists the football star bears no grudge towards the woman, because "she's never said she was raped, she's never gone for any kind of financial gain.
"He bears no ill-will. If she'd said she'd been raped, it would be a different matter, but she didn't."
Massey also revealed he found out about the rape allegations when he was on holiday with Evans, and at first he and his daughter Natasha both shunned the Wales international striker. It was only when Evans revealed everything that Massey and his daughter began to change their minds.
