China calls on United States to maintain 2015 Iran nuclear agreement

Donald Trump is expected to disavow the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in a speech later on Friday

Friday, October 13, 2017

China has implored America to maintain the Iran nuclear agreement in its entirety.

Reports began circulating on Thursday of Donald Trump intending to 'decertify' the deal struck under President Obama with Tehran.

This decision was reported to have been taken despite analysts saying the latter were holding up their terms.

The US President is now expected to disavow the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with a speech to be given later on Friday.

Now, Chinese officials have implored the United States to maintain the plans.

Hua Chunying, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, said the JCPOA was important for stability in the region, and urged all parties to preserve it.
