CNN has come under major fire after connecting the terror attack in Barcelona to the incident in Charlottesville last weeked.
Thirteen died in the Spanish coastal city after a van mowed down pedestrians on Las Ramblas on Thursday.
The American news network suggested the atrocity might have been inspired by the events in Virginia, where one woman died after a car was driven into anti-fascists protesting a far-right rally.
The comparison came during a segment where CNN's national security correspondent Jim Sciutto said the shared tactics of using a vehicle to target pedestrians was "alarming."
The anchor of the news programme - Wolf Blitzer - then said there would be questions regarding whether the events in Barcelona would be a "copycat" of Charlottesville.
In response to this, Twitter users have lambasted the network.

Investigators have not proven any link between the two attacks on either side of the Atlantic.
