A couple in Ohio have been charged with inducing panic after staging a murder scene - with tomato sauce.

Micah Risner placed partner Nataleigh Schlette in the bathtub and used ketchup to suggest he had murdered her, according to the Associated Press

The man then sent pictures of the scene to friends, thinking it was funny. But they reported him to police.

Police officers said they received calls from three "hysterical" people, and arrived at the scene in Sandusky to find the act was staged.

Police sergeant Dawn Allen told the Sandusky Register that whilst this was a joke to the couple involved, it was not a joke to police.

Today (March 10) the couple pleaded not guilty to inducing panic.
