Ex-partners who live entirely off maintenance payments from their former spouse are increasingly being told by courts to get a job.

The change in approach comes after the Appeal Court backed millionaire racehorse-surgeon Ian Wright last year, after he complained he shouldn't have to support wife Tracey, even after his retirement, when she was making no effort to become employed.

It's a change of focus that is sure to have a big effect on both sides in divorce proceedings, and got us thinking about some of the eye-watering separations of recent years.
