TV show Dancing On Ice is set to feature a same-sex couple for the first time.
Steps singer Ian “H” Watkins will team up with professional dancer Matt Evers for the 2020 iteration of the programme.
It is believed Watkins, who is openly gay, asked whether he could be teamed with a male partner and the production team was “fully supportive”.
It comes after years of speculation that same-sex couples would feature on a TV dance competition.
The BBC had previously said it was "completely open" to having them on Strictly Come Dancing, but this has not yet happened.
Watkins will compete against celebrities including TV presenter Trisha Goddard, Love Island contestant Maura Higgins and former professional footballer Kevin Kilbane.
Doctor Who star John Barrowman will join the show as a judge, after the departure of Jason Gardiner.
Watkins did not speak about his sexuality during his time with Steps, and only came out publically in 2007, six years after the group first disbanded.
He said at the time he felt “massive pressure” to keep his sexuality a secret.
The singer has posted training updates from the ice ever since it was announced he would be starring on the show two weeks ago.
