David Cameron will probably have an international career after stepping down as an MP, according to author of Cameron at 10 Peter Snowdon.
Snowdon was speaking to talkRADIO after Cameron resigned as the MP for Witney yesterday.
Cameron claimed he didn't want to be a distraction on the back benches, and announced that he will support the next Conservative candidate for Witney.
Journalist and historian Snowdon told Jonny Gould and Ash "His legacy will be defined by the referendum.
"In all his public statements he had been saying he was going to stand for reelection as the MP for Whitney," he explained. "I imagine his thinking is that he has looked at his future career in politics and decided that he's done his time and he really should get out.
"How he is in public is not that different to how he is in private. I wouldn't be surprised if he embarks on some sort of career on an international level."
