Democrats move for resolution of no confidence in Donald Trump

The resolution lists 88 reasons why the US president is unfit for office

Thursday, July 20, 2017

Representatives of the Democratic Party have filed a resolution of 'no confidence' in Donald Trump.

The motion, which can be read here, represents a formal expression of doubt in the US President's suitability for the office.

It provides a list of 88 reasons to explain why Trump is unfit for the highest office - such as his refusal to release his tax returns, his conduct on Twitter, and the travel ban.

Other factors on the list question his business deals, his comments towards women, and his repeated attacks on media outlets.

The resolution, led by the representative for Tennessee's 9th congressional district Steve Cohen, does not have a chance of being carried forward in the House of Representatives, given the Republican majority.

This point was admitted by Cohen, who said it was "a sad day for Americans" that he and his fellow Demcorats had been pushed to this point.
