Legendary DJ and broadcaster Trevor Nelson joined Penny Smith to talk about the music industry and how it's changed over time.
He told Penny that he's "been in this industry for 30 years from the bottom up" and the change has been huge, saying "I'm really privileged to have experienced a bit of everything, the digital age and the analogue age."
Nelson belives the chart isn't "what it used to be" because it's not just sales but a "culmination of things" including streams. This means you get "artists dominating the charts, which makes the chart look incredibly dull."
He also explained that before social media there was a sort of "disconnect between an act and the fans" because fans could control the flow of information to acts - whereas now so much more information is publicly available.
