Donald Trump and Rex Tillerson have met Sergey Lavrov for a diplomatic meeting in Washington.
The Russian Foreign Minister discussed Syria and how to improve the ties between Washington and Moscow in Wednesday's meeting.
In the wake of the talks, Lavrov praised Trump and Tillerson for working to improve relations between the two countries, saying the talks had been constructive.
The meeting has been criticised, however, for its timing, coming shortly after the surprise dismissal of FBI Director James Comey.
However Trump has defended the sacking on Twitter, saying Comey had lost the confidence of "almost everyone in Washington."
