A US Republican voter left Julia Hartley-Brewer astonished this morning by describing Donald Trump's plan for armed teachers as a "step in the right direction."
Drew Liquerman, a political commentator and spokesman for Republicans Overseas, spoke to Julia after Trump publicly backed the idea of giving teachers weapons to prevent further Florida-style shootings.
Liquerman said the arming of teachers is "not the only change that needs to happen," but it would at least be a positive step.
He added that gun-free zones, another option proposed by the anti-gun lobby, "make no sense" - but this prompted Julia to ask why Trump himself has established a gun-free zone around his resort at Mar-a-Lago.
Julia also asked why Trump needs briefing notes to address grieving familiies, a question which drew another animated response from Liquerman.
