Donald Trump is to reportedly take the first steps towards the building of the wall along the border of Mexico today (Wednesday)
The new president is to sign several several executive orders aimed at restricting immigration and refugee access today, according to two administration officials who have not been named.
During the signing, which is to reportedly take place at the Department of Homeland Security, Mr Trump will examine the initial options regarding the construction of the wall.
Yesterday on Twitter, the President said: “Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!”
The proposal - to construct a wall along the 2,000 kilometre southern US border to Mexico to keep out illegal immigrants - had been a key promise the President made during his election campaign.
However the idea has been rejected from the Mexico side, with senior politicians saying they have no intention of funding the project, as Mr Trump says they will.
