A journalist with Israel Radio has described Donald Trump as a "bull in a china shop" in reference to his plans for the US embassy in Israel.
Jerry Lewis spoke to talkRADIO after the White House announced that plans to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem - one of Mr Trump's key election promises - are now in motion.
The move is sure to prove hugely controversial, as Jerusalem is considered a holy site by both Israelis and Palestinians and has witnessed several flashpoints in recent years.
Lewis, a former vice-president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, told Julia Hartley-Brewer that Mr Trump is "taking on a bit too much," adding “he hasn’t thought through the ramifications. I’m sure his state department will be aghast at this and the European Union will be very much against."
He added that, while Mr Trump is trying to right what he sees as a wrong to the Jewish people, the risk of islolating the Arab world may be too great.
