A caller on Julia Hartley-Brewer's show mounted an amazing defence of Donald Trump this morning following his son's email dump yesterday.

Many are calling for the US President to be impeached after his son, Donald Trump Jr, revealed that he had met with a Russian lawyer last June, having been told she was an employee of the Kremlin, and said "I love it" when told that there was a possibility the Russians could give him incriminating material on Hillary Clinton.

But Trump voter Amy told Julia the whole thing has been massively overblown and Trump remains the best possible person to lead the United States - and the free world.

She said: "You seem to think he's not very intelligent. I don't know if you realise but he's got an IQ of 156."

Julia rather sarcastically said that Donald Trump is a "genius" but Amy continued undeterred, saying that "he's a multi-billionaire, he's highly successful man, so he's really not stupid."

When Julia suggested that Trump was the worst possible person to be leading the US, Amy said "he's actually the best."

The caller also played down Donald Trump Jr's meeting with the Russian lawyer, saying that the whole thing was a waste of time as the lawyer had no information on Hillary Clinton.

"There is no shred of evidence, produced by any, to show collusion between Trump and Russia," she asserted. "Even so, it's been said by experts that that wouldn't be treasonous, it wouldn't be illegal.

"This whole story is just a way of diverting attention from how much Donald Trump is succeeding.

"Russia is just boring. Normal people don't care."
