Donald Trump has reacted bullishly to criticism over his historically low approval ratings, saying the media will "kill" him no matter how much he achieves.

Trump's approval rating after his first 100 days is just 41% - the lowest rating of any president over the same period in history.

Trump's brief tenure has been blighted by a series of controversies, from the ongoing allegations of links with Russia to his aborted travel ban.

His regime has also been marked by controversy over US intervention in Syria, and widespread dismay at his choice of the conservative Jeff Sessions as attorney general.

But the President believes he is the victim of a biased media, and has actually achieved quote a lot.

He tweeted: "No matter how much I accomplish during the ridiculous standard of the first 100 days, & it has been a lot (including S.C.), media will kill!"
