George Galloway thinks Donald Trump is "a hostage in the White House" using the failed and doomed Afghanistan war to try and save his "political skin."
Trump has announced that more troops will be deployed to Afghanistan in an attempt to win the war, despite previously saying in his election campaign that he would pull troops out.
The talkRADIO presenter said: "The President of the United States is a hostage in the White House surrounded by generals.
"He has now adopted the very policies of those generals against which he campaigned and won the American presidential election."
Galloway thinks "a failed doomed war is now going to be used to try and save the political skin of a failed doomed President and of course the people of Afghanistan will be the first to pay the price.
"Even Alexander the Great did not successfully occupy Afghanistan and Donald Trump [isn't like] Alexander the Great.
"It’s a doomed war and it’s a doomed presidency. Everything that he could have done wrong in his statement this week on Afghanistan he has done wrong.
"The danger is once you start ramping up one war and it isn’t quite working in staving off your enemies, the danger of reigniting the possibility of other wars begins to loom larger."
