Downing Street rubbishes Jean Claude-Juncker Brexit dinner report

Downing Street has rubbished a report in the German media about Theresa May's dinner with Jean-Claude Juncker last week.

The report, summarised in a series of tweets by the Economist's Jeremy Cliffe, suggests EU officials saw the dinner as a disaster and are now seriously concerned about the forthcoming Brexit talks.

The article also suggested May had not been briefed properly ahead of the talks and that the EU believes she is deluded on several key issues, notably the length of time it will take to settle the EU migrants issue, and Britain's position vis-a-vis the money it must pay upon leaving the EU.

However Downing Street has issued a rare statement to refute the report and reiterate that the talks were constructive.
