Driver racially abused and punched in the face in Leicester

A driver was allegedly punched in the face whilst having racist abuse shouted at him in Leicester.

The incident took place on Friday morning (February 16) and police are still searching for the perpetrator, according to The Leicester Mercury.

The victim had allegedly been forced to stop when the attacker overtook him.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said the attack then began when the man lowered his window to talk to the other driver and was then "racially abused before being repeatedly punched in the face."

The attack is being treated as a racially aggravated assault and police are asking for any witnesses to provide information.

The victim was driving a Volkswagen Passat and the attacker is said to have been in a black Ford Focus Titanium.

The suspect has been described as a well-built Asian man in his late 20s or early 30s with round brown glasses, short black hair and stubble.

He was also said to be wearing a bomber jacket which was black and black trousers at the time of the attack.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 101.
