A shooting took place outside a mosque in France on Sunday (July 2), however it is not thought to have been linked to terrorism.
Eight people were injured in the incident, including a girl, in the town of Avignon, the prosecutor's office has said.
Witnesses said that at around 10:30pm at least two men got out of a car and started shooting, according to The New Arab.
Others said that there were four men involved who were wearing hoodies.
It is thought that there was at least one shotgun involved in the incident.
The prosecutor's office also said that none of the injuries sustained in the incident are life-threatening.
The office said: "From what we know this evening, the mosque was not targeted. The fact that it happened in the street of the religious establishment was unconnected with it."
But those from the Muslim community are still concerned and the incident is examined by the criminal investigation department.
On Thursday (June 29) a man also tried to drive his car into worshippers outside a mosque in Paris in a separate incident.
