Emmanuel Macron has come under fire by Twitter users for his comments at a Holocaust memorial.

Speaking alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, the French President said that France had played a part in the Holocaust.

He was speaking at an event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Vel D'Hiv raid during the Second World War, where French police under the Vichy government collaborated with the Nazis to round up tens of thousands of Jews.

These people were later deported to concentration camps.

Macron said France had organised it and blasted those who would seek to deny the state's role in the affair.

However, there are several users on Twitter who aren't too happy with him for this.
