Europe's top trade official has said a post-Brexit free trade deal with Britain is a certainty.
Cecilia Malmstrom, the European Commissioner for Trade, has said a free trade deal will be struck "for sure."
As trade commissioner, Malmstrom, from Sweden, is responsible for the EU's common commercial policy
She has previously sent out mixed messages regarding Brexit, promising to make negotiations with the UK a priority but also saying "there will be some sort of transition period," and suggesting that Britain could face World Trade Organisation tariffs until everything is sorted out.
The declaration is likely to cheer the Brexiteers, after months of speculation about Britain's post-Brexit trading relationship with Brussels.
