A Eurofighter jet has crashed in Spain this morning (October 12), according to local reports.

Spanish sources have confirmed that the pilot has died, but it is unclear whether there are any other casualties.

Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that the plane crashed after taking part in a military parade near the southern city of Albacete.

The plane crashed near an air base, with some reports suggesting it hit a park called La Pulgosa de Albacete.

The incident took place around 12pm local time (11am GMT), and the cause has yet to be confirmed.

News outlet Antena 3 has published footage of the aftermath of the incident.
