Police in Finland have reportedly shot a man who allegedly stabbed a number of people in the city of Turku.

The incident is thought to have happened in Puutori-Market Square. The man was reportedly shot in the leg, and is believed to be in custody now.

Twitter users have said at least five people have been injured, and at the moment, mixed reports aren't clarifying if there was one attacker or a group of assailants.

South-West Finland Police have warned people to stay out of the city centre on Twitter.

At this point, there has been no confirmation of casualities.

The Prime Minister of Finlan, Juha Sipila, announced on Twitter the Finnish government was following the events in Turku, and was scheduled to meet to discuss it later in the day.

The incident comes one day after 14 people died in a series of terror attacks in Spain.
