Everton footballer Wayne Rooney has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, according to unconfirmed reports.
Rooney was stopped by police near his home in the Cheshire countryside, according to the Irish Mirror. He had been training with Everton earlier in the day.
Cheshire Police would not confirm or deny the report when contacted by talkRADIO.
Rooney moved to Everton from Manchester United earlier this summer, having spent 13 hugely successful years at Old Trafford during which he won the Champions League and became the club's all-time record goalscorer.
The Liverpudlian also broke the England goalscoring record before retiring from international football last week.
Rooney currently lives in the village of Prestbury but is reportedly planning to move to a new £10 million mansion in the coming weeks. He has three sons with his wife Colleen, who is currently expecting their fourth child.
