A former police officer has been jailed for two years, after asking a 14-year-old to perform a sex act.

Alistair Leiper pretended that he was 17 years old during a Skype call with his victim in 2014, when he asked her to perform on camera, AOL reported.

He also asked another 14-year-old to reveal herself in an online chat, to which she replied "go jump off a cliff."

The 37-year-old was formerly a constable with the Metropolitan Police, however he was suspended after his arrest in 2015 and was later sacked.

At a hearing last month, Leiper admitted one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and three counts of attempting to engage in sexual activity in the presence of a child.

Leiper was said to be "under considerable personal stress" and had no previous convictions, Judge Alistair McCreath said the man's actions "stained" his otherwise "exemplary" reputation.<>

The man has been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for five years and he has also been placed on the sexual offenders register for 10 years.
