Four women have been removed from a flight between Manchester and Ibiza after allegedly shouting racist slurs and threatening other passengers.

They began shouting after an argument about Nike trainers and are believed to be between 20 and 25 years old.

The Monarch flight was travelling on Tuesday evening, and photos of the women were posted on social media.

Four other groups of passengers asked to move seats due to the scene, prompting others and the captain to call the police.

One witness told the Manchester Evening News they were being racist and were intoxicated. She also claimed the women abused her friends when asking to be moved.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police confirmed they were called to the incident on the flight.
