Peter Vaughan has died, aged 93

Actor Peter Vaughan, best known for his roles in Porridge and Games of Thrones, has died aged 93.

From 2011-2015 he played Maester Aemon in the recent hit TV series Game of Thrones.

He also appeared in Porridge between 1975-1977 playing Harry Grout. 

A statement from his agent, Sally Long-Innes, said: "This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning.

"He died peacefully with his family around him."
