A student who worked round-the-clock the night before his exam to help those affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster has told his amazing story to Jon Holmes - and revealed an even more incredible tale about a girl who lived in the building.
A-Level student Rory Walsh lives near Grenfell Tower and woke up in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday (June 14), after hearing screams from people in the building. He then opened the social club his family runs as a refuge centre and continued helping people until 8am, when he then travelled to his English exam. After the exam he returned to continue helping people.
Rory told Jon Holmes: "To be honest I wasn’t going to go to the exam, I thought there’s much more important things to be doing...I tried to do what I could [in the exam] but I was more concerned with getting back here."
As if Rory's story wasn't incredible enough, he revealed: "There’s one girl I know that I went to school with, she was in the actual building. She escaped from the thirteenth floor and went to do her GCSE exam in the clothes she escaped in."
