The newly-elected leader of Kensington and Chelsea Council was subjected to heckling at a public meeting.
Elizabeth Campbell was made the leader during the gathering, but was treated with boos and shouts by members of the public once she made a statement on Grenfell Tower.
The councillor expressed her sorrow for the "grief and trauma" created by the tragedy in June, when a high-rise tower block became engulfed by flames.
Around 70 survivors of the blaze were present at the meeting, and it ended early after a women fell down and had to be treated by medics.
At least 80 people either remain missing or have been confirmed dead since the fire engulfed the tower on June 14.
The Council has been accused of being slow and providing an ineffectual response to the disaster.
