A Hackney man has been accused of keeping a political magazine which contained bomb-making instructions in his room.

Alaettin Kalender, originally from Turkey, is standing trial at the Old Bailey accused of terrorism offences.

Kalender's trial heard that he owned a copy of Devrimci Sol November 1997, which is linked to a Turkish far-left militant group, the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C).

The court heard that the magazine contained an article called Training notes in relation to making bombs and bomb materials.

Kalender was arrested in September after a counter-terrorism operation by the Metropolitan Police. At the time, Scotland Yard said the charges were not related to Syria.

He denies the terrorism charges.
