Peter Lilley MP has condemned Lord Kerr for calling native British people "stupid".
Speaking at a thinktank event, Lord Kerr, a pro-EU peer who wrote Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty in 2009, insisted that the UK needs intelligent migrants because the native British public are "so bloody stupid."
In response, Mr. Lilley, the MP for Hitchin and Harpenden who was at the event, walked out in disgust.
In an interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer, he labeled the comments "disgraceful" and pointed out that if he'd said "immigrants were bloody stupid with inferior intelligence to the native British, the police would have potentially charged him with a hate crime."
