An actress who claims Harvey Weinstein raped her in a hotel in California is suing the Hollywood film mogul.

The actress, who has been identified only by the default alias Jane Doe, accused the producer of the assault after they had discussed a role in his Marco Polo TV series.

She alleges Weinstein first assaulted her two years ago, in 2015, before raping her in the Montage hotel in Beverly Hills.

Her lawyer, Gloria Allred, said Weinstein had called her afterwards, only for the unnamed actress to hang up the phone.

The woman is also launching a lawsuit against his former company, The Weinstein Company, for “deliberate indifference.”

A spokeswoman for the 65-year-old has reiterated his denial of all allegations of non-consensual sex.

Accusations of sexual harassment and assault made against the producer are being investigated by police forces in New York, London, and Los Angeles.

Weinstein is also suing his former company in order to gain access to emails he believes will exonerate him.
